Drug use of Todays Generation
Just like at Woodstock a variety of different drugs were popular at Coachella. The open usage of them wasn't as common though because of super strict security. Getting the drugs into the festival is a challenge itself, and then doing them without getting caught is a whole different story. People trying to smuggle drugs into Coachella did anything from hiding it in ChapStick containers, to stuffing it in their bras. Some got away with it, while others did not.
Unlike at Woodstock, the usage of drugs at Coachella wasn't to protest anything, it was simply for fun. Sure, they are breaking rules just like the hippies were, but there was no meaning behind it. People at Coachella simply do drugs for the fun of it. Lots of people turn to drugs for a little excitement, or because they want to fit in (Why do Teens Use Drugs).

Tripping on acid, snorting cocaine, using psychedelic mushrooms, and smoking weed are all popular at Coachella just like they were at Woodstock. A drug that wasn't really heard of back then that is used today is called MDMA, otherwise known as Ecstasy. It is a Psychedelic drug that produces euphoria and a feeling of well being, decreased levels of fear and anxiety and a physical stimulant and sensational effect in users (Frater). Most of the drugs used are on the list of top ten recreational drugs.
